It has been a fantastic week though!
Last
Monday we got to just go and hang out with the elders in St. Maries
picking blackberries. But we are really lame and didn't get any
pictures.... so just imagine the 4 of us in our overalls fighting back
the giant tangle of nasty thorns to get 14 pounds of the biggest
blackberries you've ever seen. It's been so great for smoothies and pies
all week. We love it out here in the boons, and we have decided we all
want to stay forever.
Also this week I got to go to MLC, and I
got to see all of my mission friends from all over :). It was the best!
And we talked a lot about starting a new Book of Mormon challenge for
the rest of this year. We're going to be reading 5 pages a day and
looking for how we can relate the Book of Mormon to teaching repentance
and baptizing converts, with the prayer that we'll be able to find those
who are ready to make that covenant with Heavenly Father. We are all so
excited! You are all welcome to join us if you'd like :). I love the
Book of Mormon so much, it's the truest book I've ever read, and it's
changing my life to focus on it so much. Literally every day I find
something in there that applies to me, it's incredible! Everybody should
go read it. ;)
We also got to go on exchanges this week, and
Sister Blake was really nervous to be off to Coeur d'Alene. But she
survived! I got to hang out with Sister Eubanks, and she was a little
bit culture shocked by Plummer. But we knew that would happen, haha.
It's fun to take sisters here for a day and show them around.
Oh!
And the best thing this week was that we found 4 new investigators on
Sunday! 2 of them are in a nursing home, so we will have to see how to
work with the regulations there to get our new friends to church. But
they all are so nice to us! We are pumped to work things out this week
ad to share this amazing Gospel with them. :) I have never seen so much
growth in one area so quickly! Sister Blake is a miracle worker for
sure. I just love that sister so much.
Yesterday we got to do
a whole bunch of service projects with our St. Maries elders!! They are
the best, putting up with all of our projects. We got to help Sister
Ratz build her retaining wall, which included a hornets nest that got
aggravated, and some stings, and some watermelon for dessert. And then
we got to help this sweet lady Clare to make some raspberry jelly, which
turned out kind of soft, but so, so good! And then we got to go see
Melody, and she had us help her can pineapple, grapes, watermelon, and
plums. It was such an adventure. It was a full day, but more fun that
tracting while everyone else is having barbecues without us.... haha.
In
other news, the smoke in the air is so thick, that I could probably cut
it with a knife, or pack it into a ball and throw it at people. Sister
Blake has been pretty sick the last few weeks, but yesterday and today
it's been the worst. I can send some pictures, but it's hard to do it
justice. It feels like dusk all day, and we've been told to stay inside
or wear masks if we go out... it's been such an adventure... apparently
there are fires literally all around us. The entire mission is dark and
smoky. Lots of prayers for rain and for the firefighters to be safe!
Here are some pictures from the week! I'll send some more in another email too :).
There's
a picture of our lunch at district meeting. We literally ate
raspberry/blackberry cream pie, oreo cheesecake, and homemade fries for
lunch. Mama ain't here to tell us what to eat anymore ;).
Also this is
Sister Hiatt, who is the most fantastic lady. Turns out she and I might
be related, because her mom was a Brown and there are some Chadwicks in
her line somewhere? Sounds fishy to me, we're going to have to do some
research!
Also Sister Blake and I stopped to take some model
pictures with the crazy looking sunset. See how weird it is? The sun has
been shy lately, not so bright :/.
Anyways, Love you all so much!! Have a fantastic week ok? :D
Here are some more pictures! This first one is a picture of the
sunrise this morning. That is the sun, that tiny orange dot. We sat for
an hour this morning drinking lemon&honey water, glaring at all the
smoke. It's pretty crazy!
And the one of me with the Book of
Mormon was from our Companion study that we did at the Tekoa Cemetery,
because it's pretty there :).
Also some pictures of all the
adventures we had yesterday! Melody always makes Sister Blake and I use
those aprons.... haha at least the elders got better ones!
